Revisit to Rebranded Indigo South London
Book Signing at Indigo South London
Did you know there have been some renovations going on at 1037 Wellington Rd in London, Ontario? What used to be Chapters South London has gotten a rebrand, plus a face lift!
Introducing Indigo South London!
This Calls For A Fresh Book Signing
After my last book signing last year, I learned that the Consignment Manager was moving to a new store. While I was sad to see Nalini go, I met the new Consignment Manager and she was excited to have me come back in the new year.
It took me a while to schedule it in, but on June 7, 2025, I returned! Meg was just as welcoming as Nalini had been and so were the staff and customers that day. There were many lovely conversations had all around.
I met a woman who had already discovered both my books at the London Public Library, but was thrilled to meet the author in person.
“This is the highlight of my day!” she declared.
One gentleman who stopped aspired to publish his own book, so asked me several questions about the publishing process. Hopefully I helped!
Another older woman and her mother were there to compile a list of new books to purchase in the future. Riding the Waves was of keen interest, as the mother had recently lost her husband. Both of them, plus the daughter’s sister had also had cancer bouts as well. The hug the mother and I shared seemed like it was well needed by the new widow, so I was grateful to be there for our conversation around loss.
At one point I spied a boy eyeing my table. I figured he was checking out the carved wooden trinkets—which he was, but not for the reason I expected. When he and his mother came over, she explained that her mother had been a nurse who had visited Rwanda many times. They had similar figurines of their own at home, so I suspect his initial curiousity had more to do with whether they were the same animals or not.
The conversation took an interesting turn though when I moved from talking about ‘Roughing it in Africa’ to ‘Riding the Waves’. The woman was a social worker who often worked with clients processing grief. She was excited to learn that there was a new grief memoir out there for people to connect with to help them heal. As she gathered a stack of my business cards, she promised to point people in my direction who might benefit from my book.
Wow!
It always surprises me how quickly the day flies by, but an iced chai latte from the new Dark Horse Espresso inside Indigo South London helped keep me alert for the day. The Canadian coffee chain recently opened in the store, so another good reason to visit!
For those who missed seeing me, copies of my books are on the new Local Authors shelf near the cafe. If you aren’t in London, you can purchase copies of my books online from Indigo as well. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back again, as Meg asked me to look at my calendar for the fall. And I have a few other things in the works, which I will keep you abreast of when the time comes.
Thanks to Meg, Indigo South London, and all the lovely people who made me book signing event a success.
