Book Club Event: Roughing it in Africa
Welcome to 2022. Wow. A New Year is upon us once more. How does that happen? It always seems like time moves slowly, until it doesn’t. That is never more obvious then when the calendar year flips over to a new one. So what might the year ahead hold? For starters, I am hosting a book club for Roughing it in Africa.
Roughing it in Africa Book Club
Mark your calendars! On Thursday January 20th, 2022 at 7 pm EST, I am hosting a Virtual Book Club for Roughing it in Africa with the help of my publishing agent at Twin Horseshoes Publishing. As we are still under restrictions due to covid, the event will be online on Zoom, but everyone is welcome to attend. Click this link to take you to the event on the evening of the 20th.
What to Expect at a Book Club Event
For those who have never been to a book club event before, what should you expect? For starters, grab yourself a glass of wine. I suppose it isn’t absolutely necessary, but this is a social event and South Africa produces so many fantastic wines, so go for it! You can use it to relax, to cheers, or maybe to loosen your lips to ask those questions you have been dying to know.
Once you are settled in and have joined the event, we get to the good stuff—a discussion around Roughing it in Africa. I have been in a book club for many years and our discussions are always the highlight of every meeting. The evening might start with asking what everyone thought of the book, but it always grows from there.

What happens if conversation stalls out?
What? Never…
But, I know that lulls in conversation happen. Sometimes when everyone is on the same page around a book; you get lots of “I loved it!”, then nothing. That is when a book club guide comes in handy. And yes, I have one at the ready for you my readers. You can see the full book club guide by clicking the link on the side bar to the right.
I suspect that a few of these questions might get the conversation rolling, if no one has any questions of their own to ask me. Past book club events where I have had the pleasure of having the author present always lend more depth to the text and understanding of the story. I am hoping that is the case for everyone who joins me on January 20th. Feel free to bring your own insights and unique questions of your own though. I am excited to hear what you think and can’t wait to dive back into the adventure.
See you soon!
