SUMMARY:Salon of the Refused: A Celebration of Refused Writing
DESCRIPTION:Writers require a thick skin. For every word written\, thought brilliant and shared\, there are so many more that are rejected. Refused for publication. It is the nature of attempting to become a published writer; that we must first collect our lumps with refused writing. Not everyone appreciates our brilliance\, or at least not at first glance. \nEnter the Salon of the Refused… \n \nSalon of the Refused\nThe Salon of the Refused is inspired by the French Salon des Refusés of 1863. It was an Exhibition\, put on and sanctioned by Napoléon\, featuring rejected works from the Official Jury of the Paris Salon. As you might imagine\, it created quite a stir at the time\, especially as it displayed works by notable artists\, including Édouard Manet\, Johan Jongkind\, Gustave Courbet\, James Abbott McNeill Whistler\, and many more. But how does that translate to today’s reinterpretation? It too features the rejected. \nIt is a celebration of writing that was initially rejected. It is also a celebration of marginalized communities who often feel rejected by mainstream society. \n~ The Salon of the Refused \nRefused writing: That is what we are talking about. What better way to present it than by having the actual authors read from rejected works. \nSometimes work is initially rejected for a variety of reasons. Maybe it is not the right fit for a certain publisher. Perhaps the subject matter holds unpopular views. It could be that more work needs to be done to the piece before it is ready to be accepted. There are as many reasons for writing to hit the slough pile\, as books that line library and bookstore shelves. But the driving force behind the Salon of the Refused event\, is to spotlight that writing—to give it another shot to see if maybe it is not so bad. \nAnd I get to share some of my words there too. \nCome out to hear myself and other local London writers read from works that initially got passed over. You just might find your new favourite author!

SUMMARY:Book Signing at Chapters Newmarket
DESCRIPTION:The Fall Book Tour continues for a Book Signing at Chapters Newmarket! Please join Katherine Krige as I venture to Newmarket\, Ontario on October 19th from 11 am – 2 pm for my next book signing event this fall! \nChapters Newmarket Book Signing\n\nHello Newmarket! \nAre you ready to support and welcome an Indie author to your fair town? I cannot wait to see you! My book tour has hit the road and I can’t wait to stop at Chapters Newmarket for my next book signing event. Please come out to say hello\, purchase copies of my books\, and get them signed too! \nSince Newmarket is a new audience for me\, let me introduce myself. \n For those who don’t know me\, my name is Katherine Krige. I grew up in Richmond Hill\, just down the road from Newmarket\, and now live in London\, Ontario. I am a Freelance Writer and accomplished Social Media Manager. I hold a BA in English from York University\, an ECE Diploma from George Brown College\, plus I regularly enroll in writing courses in the Creative Writing Certificate program at Western Continuing Studies. \nMy books may both be memoirs on different subjects\, but they have similar themes: finding and accepting oneself\, no matter what life throws at you. I have  published two memoirs to date; the first ‘Roughing it in Africa’ and my most recent book ‘Riding the Waves’. They both speak to life experiences and how they mold us\, spanning adventure travel and grief. \nNow it’s your turn! I want to meet you too\, so please visit me on October 19th at Chapters Newmarket. Can’t wait to see you! \nSee you Soon!

SUMMARY:Chapters South London Book Signing
DESCRIPTION:The Twin Horseshoes Duo are doubling down on trips to Chapters South London this month. We know that not everyone is able to make it out to specific events\, so offering plenty of dates is key to hitting everyone’s calendar. That’s why we are hosting another Chapters South London book signing again on Saturday\, September 28 from 12 – 4 pm. \nChapters South London Book Signing Take Three!\n \nYou missed our first trip to Chapters South London? And the second? No problem. Daisy Mae Hamelinck and myself are determined to see you all! We know part of getting books into reader’s hands is by making ourselves available. If that means repeat visits to bookstores\, we are all in! \nCome get copies of ‘Different is Good’ by Daisy Mae Hamelinck; a children’s book that celebrates our own unique journeys and the beauty in just being you. \nKatherine Krige will have copies of her travel memoir ‘Roughing it in Africa’ to tempt you with a rollicking adventure through ten countries in Africa. If travel isn’t your thing\, perhaps ‘Riding the Waves’ is more your speed. It is a grief memoir that speaks to love and loss\, grief\, and the healing journey we take after loss. \nWhatever you come for\, we are happy to sign copies of any books you purchase. I might start with giving you the synopsis of Riding the Waves and Roughing it in Africa\, but that’s only where the stories start. The conversation has to start somewhere\, but it can only start if you join me at my book signing at Indigo North London. SUMMARY:Twin Horseshoes Book Signing at Chapters South London
DESCRIPTION:I am headed back to Chapters South London this May\, but this time I will have guests with me. Stay tuned for a Group book signing event! \nTwin Horseshoes Book Signing\nYou are in for a special treat on May 4\, 2024. After several successful book signings at Chapters South London\, the store and I decided to switch it up a bit. For this book signing\, I will be joined by fellow authors from Twin Horseshoes. Get ready to meet the Founder of Twin Horseshoes\, Marcia Allyn Luke\, as well as fellow Twin Horseshoes author Daisy-Mae Hamelinck. \nI met Daisy-Mae through a mutual friend several years ago\, and we immediately hit it off. She encouraged me to write my grief memoir\, even while I was finishing Roughing it in Africa. In turn\, I am now encouraging her to promote her new children’s book a little further afield. \nShe is a post-secondary teacher\, coach\, two-times cancer survivor\, and author of children’s book ‘Different is Good’. Meet her in person as we share the table under the Twin Horseshoes umbrella. \nDaisy-Mae met Marcia when they were kids and their relationship has grown beautifully since then. When Daisy-Mae opened her personal life and career coaching business\, she leaned into Marcia for help. The natural coach that she is\, Daisy also encouraged Marcia to follow her dreams. Those dreams included starting her own publishing business to help aspiring authors reach their goal of becoming published. \nMarcia is the Founder of Twin Horseshoes\, but she is also an author in her own right. She published Letters to My Hypothetical Children in 2021; a collection of Life Lessons\, accounts of mistakes made\, but overall a collection of hope for both herself\, her children\, and for you too. It wouldn’t be a Twin Horseshoes event without her! \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nAnd I will be on hand as well with copies of Roughing it in Africa and my New Release Riding the Waves. Get a copy and get them signed! \n\nPlease come out to meet Daisy-Mae Hamelinck\, Marcia Allyn Luke\, and myself\, as we sign books and greet folks at Chapters South London. See you then!
