One of the brilliant things about publishing a book with a small, independent publisher is that you build close bonds with your team. I suppose you build bonds with any publishing team you work with, but when my publishing agent is my go-to for everything, they move beyond a business partner to a friend. Not only is Marcia Allyn Luke the owner of Twin Horseshoes and chief editor, but she is also an author—the first author published by Twin Horseshoes Publishing!
So when I heard that one of her best friends had published a book, and was incidentally the woman who introduced Marcia and I in the first place, my brain got to thinking. What if Marcia, Daisy-Mae Hamelinck, and I all rallied together to help each other sell books together? What if we organized a book signing? Even better, what if we put together a full on tour featuring Twin Horseshoes published authors!
In my head, the idea was brilliant. Thankfully, Marcia and Daisy were on board with the idea too. The Twin Horseshoes Book Tour was launched.

Introducing the Twin Horseshoes Book Tour!!!
The first stop on the Book Tour is familiar territory for me. As I wrapped up my last book signing at Chapters South London, the manager and I discussed how the event went and when we might book another signing. I had previously mentioned the idea of her hosting a trio of us, so brought up the idea once more. To my delight, Nalini was interested. Even better, so were Marcia and Daisy!

WHEN: Saturday, May 4, 12 – 4 pm
WHO: A trio of Twin Horseshoes Authors; Marcia Allyn Luke with her book ‘Letters to My Hypothetical Children’, Daisy-Mae Hamelinck with her book ‘Different is Good’, and Katherine Krige with copies of ‘Riding the Waves’ and “Roughing it in Africa’.
What You Need To Know:
When you walk in the door at Chapters South London, you will find Marcia, Daisy, and I at a table near the door with copies of all our books. We will be on hand all afternoon to greet you, discuss our books, our writing process, and how we all know each other.
As we are there representing Twin Horseshoes, feel free to also ask about the publishing industry, book marketing and editing, and how you can fulfill your own publishing dreams too.
Copies of all the books are on sale and we will be happy to sign purchased copies. If you have previously bought copies, we can sign those too. Or if you want more information, feel free to grab any of our business cards to connect with us later.
Future Stops on the Twin Horseshoes Book Tour
Make sure to check back often on my Events Page. We hope to add a stop or two across several cities in Ontario this summer. At present, our next stop is a little further east, but still in London.

Daisy-Mae Hamelinck:
Daisy-Mae Hamelinck completed her Master of Arts in the Department of Sociology at McMaster University. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Wilfrid Laurier University), Bachelor of Education-Primary/Junior (University of Toronto), and a Social Service Worker Diploma (Fanshawe). Daisy’s first co-authored book, “Interpersonal and Group Dynamics: A Practical Guide to Building an Effective Team” (3rd Edition) was published in 2018 and is currently used in colleges across Canada. Daisy has taught for 20+ years in post-secondary settings and is currently teaching at Fanshawe College and Western University. As a two-time cancer survivor, Daisy has presented regularly with the Terry Fox Foundation and the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame. She has appeared on local TV stations to discuss her health journey. In 2020, she was diagnosed with Irlen Syndrome. It is through these experiences that she often raises awareness and speaks about the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). She is also a primary caregiver for two aging parents with various mental and physical health issues.
Daisy keeps herself balanced by spending time with loved ones, practicing yoga and meditation, attending church regularly, and travelling nationally/internationally. Daisy strives to live her best life and enables others to do the same through workshops and one-on-one sessions at her success coaching business, Your New Leaf, helping participants develop life skills, set and achieve goals, and engage in creative problem solving using the 8 dimensions of wellness.
Katherine Krige:
Katherine Krige is a Freelance Writer and accomplished Social Media Manager. She is a graduate of York University with a BA in English, plus is completing several courses towards a Creative Writing Certificate in the Continuing Studies program at Western University. Having journalled from a young age, she put her writing skills to good use while travelling the world. Those journals proved integral for her bestselling travel memoir Roughing it in Africa. They also helped her process and heal after the loss of her husband and directly led to writing the grief memoir Riding the Waves. A widow in her early 30s, she raised two young children on her own and kept penning words for both herself and others. She currently lives in London, Ontario with her two almost-fully-grown children. You can find Katherine on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and at the local coffee shop when she has time to journal her way through another day.
Marcia Allyn Luke:
Marcia Allyn Luke has a Masters in Professional Education, Curriculum and Pedagogy, from Western University. She also has an Honours Bachelor in English from the University of Guelph, and a postgraduate Publishing Certificate from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). Marcia’s favourite pastime is reading and she can often be found with her nose in a book. She has been a writer at heart from the very beginning, writing children’s books for younger grades in elementary school. Marcia has contributed to an internationally bestselling book, “Silent Grief, Healing, & Hope”, and written numerous articles for TWINS Magazine, New Dreamhomes Magazine, and Life in Multiples. Marcia has a passion for education and lifelong learning, devoting her career to publishing educational resources, developing curriculum, and teaching at the post-secondary level. She has been teaching since 2017 and has taught courses such as Introductory Communications, Virtual Culture, Anthropology (survey), Children’s Literature, Professional Communications, College English, Copyediting, and Academic Research and Writing at Fleming College, George Brown College, and Humber College.
Marcia has worked in post-secondary education and publishing since 2006 in a variety of editorial, marketing, management, and sales positions, providing a unique, holistic perspective. Marcia is currently the Vice President, National Executive Council for Editors Canada. She likes to volunteer for causes related to health awareness, children’s and women’s rights, and donates blood on a regular basis. Outside of work, Marcia is a mom to twins.
